Drummer/Vocalist/Solo Performer/Music Educator
Jim Felker has made a name for himself in the Boston area music scene over the last 25 years by being a singing drummer with solid time, big ears, a deep pocket in diverse styles, and making strong connections with all musicians he shares the stage with. Jim started playing the drums at the age of 10 in the band program of the Haverhill, Massachusetts public schools and immediately began performing in many diverse situations, from a local social club drum and bugle corps to youth percussion ensembles and his high school band program. He has been singing since his elementary school years and has been striving to broaden his vocal stylings ever since.
From an early age, Jim realized he had a deep passion for playing music and teaching. This led him to study music education at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. At UML, Jim earned a bachelors degree in music education while performing in the concert band, wind ensemble, big band, several small jazz ensembles, and spent three years as the University Marching Band’s Drum Major. Outside of school studies, he played in original rock bands, cover bands, and many eclectic percussion gigs. After graduating, Jim began a career in music education that is over 25 years and counting while also performing in several successful wedding and function bands and as a solo performer on acoustic guitar and vocals.
Always seeking to expand horizons and explore new musical opportunities, Jim is interested in making connections in the live and studio music communities.
